Sherri Stevens, founder and President of SRG has built a strong and successful business based on nurturing relationships, learning from mistakes and changing with the times.
In 1990 Sherri, at the time penniless and jobless, opened Nine to Five Personnel Services in Woodstock, a one-person branch focusing on clerical and administrative staffing. Within the first year of business, increasing requests for manufacturing requirements shifted the focus. In order to be a resource to all existing and future client needs, Sherri changed the company name to Stevens Resource Group Inc to reflect the company’s future diversification.
Today SRG has grown from a one-person office to over 10 branches located throughout southwestern Ontario as well as a professional search division. SRG consists of a team of dynamic individuals with a passion for excellence in customer service. There have been many obstacles and difficulties to overcome over the years making SRG stronger today than ever. There is a common purpose and vision as well as a spirit of friendship. Information is shared, suggestions and opinions are encouraged and having fun is a company value.
In 2005 Sherri was named the first ever recipient of the RBC Momentum Award, an award which recognizes an outstanding woman entrepreneur who has successfully overcome obstacles, adapted to changing market conditions and capitalized on opportunities to deliver long-term profitable growth. Honoured and appreciative of this award, Sherri attributes much of her success to her dynamic team, firmly believing in the collective strength of people.
From experience, we have learned that by communicating our vision, hiring leaders with integrity and compassion, developing our people, celebrating our successes and being open-minded to change, we can span the gap to realizing a healthy and profitable company.
“You’ve only one life to live. Make sure you are living it to it’s fullest. At the end of your life, you should be able to look back and say ‘I did it - I lived my dreams’. It’s never too late to do what you’ve dreamed of doing even if it is for a moment in time. And even if it doesn’t turn out the way you expected at least you’ll never have to say ”what if....”
